COMMUNITY MINISTRY ACTIVITIES

Gilead Community Dinners/Food Pantry

3:00 to 6:00 p.m. - last Thursday of the month.

The Body&Soul dinner (free will offering) and food pantry serves multiple purposes.  Pantry items are available (food and personal care items) and we also provide a balanced, healthy meal to people who might not otherwise receive one, provides company for many who live alone and has become a meeting place for the community.

All are welcome to join in the community socialization this has become. We serve from 3 pm -6pm. Takeouts are available. Please join us!

Please contact Lisa Kreiger with any questions.  Call the church office at 279-9270 and leave a message for Lisa.

SLEEPING MATS PROJECT

We are collecting plastic grocery bags to prepare as yarn and crochet sleeping mats for the homeless or any other purpose that would be suited for these mats.  Some of the mats will be going to Joseph's House, and we are in need of people to work with us in making the mats.  There will be a class that will teach those who are interested to make or prepare the "yarn" for making the mats.  This class will be on October 5th at 10:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. so that we can accommodate those who are available either a.m. or p.m.

STORY DINNERS

Next Dinner - November 17th at 6:00 p.m.

Story dinners for 2017 will continue, but will be held every other month.

The committee has decided to continue the “Story Dinner” on the 3rd Friday of the month, but every other month.

We are looking for folks to volunteer to come and tell a story at one of our upcoming dinners. You may tell a story that you may have read or heard either as a child or an adult; it can be about yourself or someone else. Your story can be about your life journey, or anything you may have found interesting or inspirational! History from one’s experience growing up in their community are welcome, especially from our long-time Brunswick residents.

It does not have to be long; we have folks tell all kinds of stories, from faith journeys to history to fiction to fables to poetry. It can be 5 minutes to 20 minutes, it all works for our dinners and would be enjoyed by all!

Please see the events/activities listing tab for further information on story dinner dates/times.

PLEASE JOIN US!
